Board-level repair for UK repair shops
Board-level repair is fixing the device's main circuit board itself — the failed chip, connector or trace — instead of replacing the board or writing the device off. Soldersector does that work by post for trade customers across the UK, at fixed prices, with photo evidence and tracked post both ways.
What board-level repair means
Most repair shops can swap a screen, a battery or a port. Board-level work starts where that stops: diagnosis with schematics and a microscope, then repair of the exact fault on the motherboard itself. The device that was called "beyond economical repair" gets a second life — and the customer's data stays where it belongs.
Faults we repair at board level
- Completely dead — no power, no lights
- Boot loops, no POST and firmware faults
- No image, no backlight, no touch
- Charging, USB-C and HDMI port damage
- Liquid damage and corrosion
- Damage from a previous repair — torn pads, lifted traces
- Audio, camera and sensor faults on the board itself
If it is on the board, open a trade account and send it in.
What the fixed price includes
- Bench diagnosis with written findings
- The component-level repair itself
- Full bench test before return
- Photos at intake and completion, on your ticket
- 12-month warranty on parts and labour
- Pre-paid, tracked post both ways
Board-level repair is £95 + VAT. Diagnosis is £35 + VAT and is waived when the repair goes ahead — and nothing is charged until the job is complete.
If the fault is worse than described
Boards are honest about nothing until they are under the microscope. If a job needs more than the fixed price — different damage, extra parts, chip-level work — we send a revised quote for you to approve on the portal before any paid work starts. Decline it and the item comes back to you, repaired or not. See what microscope-level work involves.
Working behind your bench
Soldersector is trade-only. Jobs come from your bench, go back to your bench, and your customer never hears from us. You keep the account, the invoice and the credit for the fix; we do the board work. That is also why every job gets the same first-hour discipline you would want for your own customers.
Board-level repair questions
What does board-level repair mean?
Board-level repair means fixing the device's main circuit board itself — the failed chip, connector or trace — instead of replacing the board or writing the device off. The board is diagnosed with schematics and a microscope, the fault is repaired at component level, and the unit is bench-tested before it goes back.
Which devices do you take for board-level repair?
Phone, tablet, laptop and games-console logic boards, along with most small electronics with a motherboard. Jobs come in by post from repair shops and resellers across the UK.
How much does board-level repair cost?
Board-level repair is a fixed £95 + VAT, including the bench diagnosis, the repair itself and the return test. Diagnosis on its own is £35 + VAT and is waived when the repair goes ahead. Nothing is charged until the job is complete.
How long does board-level repair take?
Most boards are diagnosed within one working day of arriving and repaired within 2–4 working days. Your ticket updates live as the job moves, and we email you if anything needs a revised quote.
What if the fault turns out to be worse than described?
If the board needs more work than the fixed price covers, we send a revised quote before doing any paid work. You approve or decline it on the portal — if you decline, the item is returned unrepaired.
Do you deal with my customer directly?
No. Soldersector is trade-only and white-label: the job comes from your bench and goes back to your bench. Your customer only ever deals with you.
